Research and Publication Ethics

The European Journal of Medical Practitioners (EJMP) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of research integrity, publication ethics, and academic responsibility. The journal expects authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers to adhere to ethical principles that promote transparency, honesty, accountability, and trust in scholarly communication.

EJMP follows internationally recognized best practices in scholarly publishing and supports the ethical principles promoted by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All participants in the publication process share responsibility for maintaining the credibility and integrity of the scientific record.

Principles of Research Integrity

Research submitted to the journal must be conducted and reported in a responsible, accurate, and transparent manner. Authors should present their findings honestly without fabrication, falsification, selective reporting, or inappropriate manipulation of data.

The journal expects that all conclusions are supported by the reported evidence and that any limitations of the study are clearly acknowledged.

Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.

All listed authors should have:

  • Participated significantly in the study design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation.
  • Contributed to manuscript drafting or critical revision.
  • Approved the final version of the manuscript.
  • Agreed to be accountable for the accuracy and integrity of the work.

Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

Guest authorship, honorary authorship, and ghost authorship are considered unethical and are not permitted.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must submit only original work. Any use of the ideas, words, figures, tables, or data of others must be properly cited and acknowledged.

The journal does not tolerate:

  • Direct plagiarism
  • Self-plagiarism
  • Mosaic plagiarism
  • Duplicate publication
  • Redundant publication

Submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection tools. Significant overlap with previously published material may result in rejection, correction, or retraction.

Data Integrity and Research Accuracy

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of all information presented in their manuscripts.

Data should be collected, analyzed, and reported honestly. The manipulation, fabrication, or falsification of research data constitutes serious scientific misconduct and may lead to rejection of the manuscript or retraction of a published article.

Where appropriate, authors may be requested to provide supporting data, study protocols, ethical approvals, or other documentation to verify the authenticity of their work.

Human Subjects Research

Research involving human participants must be conducted in accordance with recognized ethical principles and applicable institutional or national regulations.

Authors should confirm that:

  • Ethical approval was obtained from an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board.
  • Participants provided informed consent where required.
  • Privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of participants were protected throughout the study.

Personal information that could identify participants should not be disclosed unless explicit consent has been obtained.

Animal Research

Studies involving animals must comply with recognized standards for animal welfare and ethical treatment.

Authors should provide information regarding ethical approval and demonstrate that appropriate measures were taken to minimize animal suffering and ensure humane care.

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials should be conducted according to internationally accepted ethical and scientific standards. Authors are encouraged to provide registration information for applicable clinical trials and disclose relevant protocols when requested.

Conflicts of Interest

Transparency regarding potential conflicts of interest is essential for maintaining trust in the scientific process.

Authors, reviewers, and editors should disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the interpretation, evaluation, or publication of research.

All disclosed conflicts will be assessed by the Editorial Office and managed appropriately.

Funding Disclosure

Authors must identify all sources of financial support related to the research. The role of sponsors or funding organizations in study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and manuscript preparation should be clearly stated.

Peer Review Ethics

The journal employs a Single-Blind Peer Review process designed to ensure fair and objective evaluation of submitted manuscripts.

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Treat manuscripts as confidential documents.
  • Evaluate submissions objectively and professionally.
  • Provide constructive and evidence-based feedback.
  • Disclose any conflicts of interest.
  • Refrain from using unpublished information for personal advantage.

Editors will make publication decisions based on scholarly merit, originality, methodological quality, and relevance to the journal's scope.

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are made independently of commercial, financial, institutional, or personal influences.

Acceptance or rejection of manuscripts is based solely on academic quality, ethical compliance, and scientific contribution.

Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

The journal is committed to maintaining the accuracy of the scholarly record.

Where significant errors, ethical violations, or research misconduct are identified, appropriate actions may include:

  • Publication of corrections or errata.
  • Publication of expressions of concern.
  • Retraction of articles.
  • Notification of relevant institutions or authorities when necessary.

Such actions will be undertaken in accordance with established ethical publishing practices.

The journal considers the following practices to be forms of research misconduct:

  • Plagiarism
  • Data fabrication
  • Data falsification
  • Image manipulation
  • Citation manipulation
  • Duplicate publication
